The Sabmadi Republic is one of the original colonies of the Antares System and a constituent nation of the Antares Confederacy.
History[]
The Sabmadi Republic has emerged as one of the Confederacy's top trading nations, and one of its richest. Since the initial stages of system-wide integration, the nation's conservative financial practices and small scale yet highly advanced infrastructure have allowed the nation to “punch above its weight” politically and economically.
Poor in resources, initial investments in automation allowed for the unhindered extraction of modest mineral wealth and sustainable agriculture. This in turn allowed for the rise of a dominant service and technology sector.[1]
Culture[]
The Sabmadi Republic has a diverse news media ecosystem, featuring Biashara Karatsi among other news organizations.
Sabmadi Republic is home to the University of Tonderay, one of the oldest and most prominent in the entire Confederacy. Among the University's facilities is the Gebser Particle Collider, which was named for the longest-serving Prime Minister of the Antares Confederacy and funded by a record-setting grant from the Sabmadi Endowment for the Sciences.[2] The university's telescopes allowed astrophysicists to study dark matter.[3]
Politics[]
Along with the Commonwealth of Embasora, Tehnali Republic, and the Union of Thanh-Jenal, the Sabmadi Republic participates in Dejen United, a joint venture headlined by the Dejen Fleetyards.
Sabmadi also participates in a joint underground highway project with the neighboring Tehnali Republic.[4] When violence began escalating in Tehnali, infra-confederate personnel, including military and humanitarians, were allowed into Sabmadi for more coordinated planning.[5] Sabmadi also contributed supplies through its merchant navy to help the planet of Suia recover from a solar flare.[6]
Economy[]
The Sabmadi Republic's advanced economy has made ties with the nearby Embasora increasingly vital, as demand for natural resources has risen far above what Sabmadi can produce locally.[1]
Some of Sabmadi's most prominent corporations are Theseus Industries and POLIS Technologies. POLIS Technologies participated in the Mandakir International Engineering Fair.[4][7] The companies collaborated to develop advanced cybernetics that gave Sabmadi military veterans a new lease on life.[8]
Geography[]
The Sabmadi Republic is located on the moon Ziva, orbiting the planet Vinh — which in turn orbits the star Dejen in the Antares System. Sabmadi shares the moon with the Tehnali Republic.[9]
